Course overview:
This veterinary orthopedic course is designed for practicing veterinarians who wish to expand their knowledge of orthopedic conditions in small animals. This week's focus is on lameness diagnosis: this includes the functional anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, differentiating between normal and abnormal gaits, the appropriate use of diagnostic imaging techniques, as well as degenerative and inflammatory joint diseases, including osteoarthritis, and musculoskeletal disorders in growing dogs.
Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will achieve the following:
- Recognizing and describing lameness in dogs.
- Selection of appropriate diagnostic procedures and interpretation of the findings.
- Knowledge of the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) in dogs.
